An interesting, if not hopelessly bleak overview of Christianity in the contemporary Middle East:
This is, however, not so much a flight of fear, more a chronicle of a death foretold. Christians are being outbred by the majority Muslim populations in their countries and they are almost hopelessly divided. In Jerusalem, there are 13 different Christian churches and three patriarchs. A Muslim holds the keys to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to prevent Armenian and Orthodox priests fighting each other at Easter.

Layla, this has been such a breakbreak for me to watch happen. I have 100 drafts on this subject I haven’t posted…mainly because I know some of the comments will cause even more pain.
I know ten Christian families who are planning on leaving Jordan, five by the end of this school year. It has nothing to do with economics, and everything with feeling more and more like strangers in their own homeland. Parents of daughters are the most concerned.
