A quick, yet poignant quip taken from Anton Shammas’ 1988 New York Review of Books piece, ‘A Stone’s Throw’:

“For twenty years now officially there has been no childhood in the West Bank and Gaza Strip …(A) ten-old boy shot by military forces is reported to be a ‘young man of  ten’”

In this conflict, childhood is one of the first victims.

It’s worth a thought.
