Very, it seems:
If (Mirhossein) Mousavi, (Mehdi) Karoubi and (former president Mohammad) Khatami are main suspects behind the soft revolution in Iran, which they are, we expect the judiciary … to go after them, arrest them, put them on trial and punish them.
The above quote emanates from Yadollah Javan, a senior commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
The same Revolutionary Guard that purports to uphold Islamic values, yet is equally responsible for arresting scores of young men and women during the “soft revolution”, thereby resulting in their exposure to horrifying treatment:
Some senior officials told me that … really shameful issues … Some young male detainees were raped … also some young female detainees were raped in a way that has caused serious injuries.
The above account was provided in a letter by Karoubi to former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, and has subsequently been posted on Karoubi’s website.
A police statement issued last week confirmed that serious violations took place in Kahrizak prison and the head of the center has since been jailed.
As if that makes it all okay: it is incredible the multitude of ways in which the Iranian population is being violated.
Talk about laying the foundations for an optimistic future – so far, the authorities have merely demonstrated how low they will stoop in order to retain control.
