That the events of yesterday were the same as every other day throughout the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s is distinctly shameful:

It is shameful to Israel, to the notion of “democracy,” to the world powers that allow it to continue, and to humankind in general.

Within hours settlers had moved in.

To facilitate their move the Israeli police were out in force to ensure that the relocation to the upmarket Arab neighbourhood of Sheikh Jarrah passed without a hitch.

My heart goes out to the two families whose futures have been irrevocably snatched and trampled over the course of 24 hours.

The history books can be rewritten, but these actions will always bear testament to the ongoing injustice.
