One of the most enduring and evocative images to emerge from the al-Aqsa Intifada has been rendered in stone in Bamako, Mali:

When I used the original image during a lecture on the Intifada one of my students complained that it was too traumatising.

Perhaps the term ‘realistic’ is more apt.

War is not tidy and should not be protrayed as so, for either side.
