According to Article 7 of Iran’s Code of Procedure on executions, the blood relatives of the victim or their lawyer are required to be present for the implementation of the sentence.
While forensic evidence has emerged proving that Delara could not have been the killer, the courts have refused to consider it.
Delara was granted the two-month reprieve by the Head of the Judiciary on 19 April, the day before she was due to be executed.
One can only shudder to imagine the impact such erratic changes must wreak on the young woman as she awaits a further eight weeks of uncertainty.
I hope Delara gets a certainty as soon as possible. Of course, I hope she is declared not guilty by the law.
