This week’s PhotoHunt theme is Thankful and it’s a tough one.
Of course, there’s the route of the loved-ones (family, friends, partners), life (food, sport, patriotism), or religion (God, the Trinity, my faith).
Yet right now I am going to settle for the one that makes all of the above possible and ameliorates their marvellous nature: freedom.

Perhaps we take our freedom a little for granted and it is only when it is lost that we realize how significant a role it assumes in our day-to-day rapport.
Whether it is the iron bars of a jail or those of a repressive relationship, there are many men and women unable to savour the joy of liberty due to political, ideological, or personal reasons.
And for that reason, this post shall be touted as a celebration of that most precious of entities and the one that we must all be profoundly thankful for: freedom.
This is a very poignant post, and a wonderful photograph to illustrate it. The sun shining through the ruins does give a sense of freedom. Very nice contribution to this week’s PhotoHunt theme!
I followed one of the routes to the theme that you suggested, and my contribution is focused on family.
thought provoking-both the picture and your statement
A lovely dedication and a very good idea for this theme.
Have a great weekend.
A stunning photo and a sobering reminder about freedom!
