Bill Rammell visit to Tunisia (24/02/2009)

Bill Rammell, Foreign Office Minister for North Africa and the Middle East, visited Tunisia on 25 February.

He met his Tunisian counterpart, Mr Abdelhafidh Harguem, with whom he launched a new UK-Tunisia Bilateral Forum. The Forum will provide an ongoing framework in which to take forward co-operation in a range of subject areas, including political and governance issues, trade cooperation, investment, tourism and cultural and education exchanges. Bill Rammell also met the Tunisian Minister of Interior, Rafik Belhaj Kacem to discuss co-operation on security and counter-terrorism issues.

This visit provided an opportunity for the UK and Tunisia to further develop the good relationship between the two countries.

Tunisia is often overlooked when it comes to British political exchanges, so it would be interesting to follow how this new partnership will develop.
