Sometimes the most basic of concepts when blended with a flurry of colour, can produce the most enjoyable paintings.

Such a technique has been adopted by the Syrian painter, Adib Fattal, whose vistas of Levantine cities comprise minute details that recall the ‘matchstick people’ trademark of the British painter, L. S. Lowry.

Born in 1962 in Washington D.C., Fattal spent most of his life in Europe, the United States and the Middle East, before graduating with a B.B.A. in International Marketing from The City University of New York.

However, graphic art was to prove his greater love, and he renounced the business world and returned to Syria, where he now resides at the foot of Mount Hermon, filling his days with painting, farming, and looking after his menagerie of dogs, cats, and birds.
