With Prada’s latest creation, the Waves Flower Pumps, the fashion house is clearly engaged in a bid to trump last year’s monstrous crocs in the mortifyingly peculiar shoe stakes.

I love unique shoes, yet while my shoe rack knows no boundaries in terms of height and colour, I doubt I could stretch myself to forgive these twin contraptions.

Part antique table leg, part dolly sandal, the melange of electric blue, subtle mauve, twilight navy, and frosty pink render the shoe woefully vile on a plethora of levels.

Had this spawn of furniture and shoe emerged from the depths of Vivienne Westwood‘s darkest hours, perhaps I could have cocked my head and tentatively applauded her abstract creation.

But Prada? Goodness, no.
